Neuromuscular Re-Education

Once poor biomechanical patterns and muscle recruitment patterns are diagnosed, the physical therapist will use various methods to regain proper muscle recruitment for desired activities.  Methods may include: verbal cues, tactile cues, kinesio taping, EMG with biofeedback, and manual resisted functional retraining.  This type of training will restore optimal recruitment patterns, down training overactive muscles and improving recruitment of weakened muscles.  This integration of nueromuscular training will help to minimize stress on injured areas, reducing pain, and preventing recurrence of injury in the future.
