Back and Neck Pain

Postpartum back and neck pain is often due to the postural and mechanical strain of caring for your newborn while still recovering from childbirth.  During the postpartum period, your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles are in a weakened condition due to overstretching.  These core muscles are essential to protect pelvic organs and lumbar spine from excessive loading and injury.  Without these muscles providing proper support, and with so many new physical demands on the body, good postural habits and body mechanics may falter, increasing risk of injury to your neck and back.

Physical therapy treatment will provide relief through manual therapy techniques and modalities to reduce pain and dysfunction.  A therapeutic exercise program will be specifically designed to meet your needs, including postural awareness and instruction in good body mechanics.
