Nerve Entrapment

Nerve entrapment syndromes causing pelvic pain usually occur when one of the nerves supplying the pelvic region is compressed or injured.  These nerves leave the spine, and course through the abdominal facia and local muscles, to reach the pelvis. Trauma can occur from musculoskeletal injury to the area, abdominal hernias, and abdominal/pelvic surgeries.

Physical therapy treatment will include manual techniques to release muscles and fascia around the nerve, and restore proper alignment and mechanics of the trunk, pelvis, and hips, reducing strain on the nerve.  Modalities are utilized to help calm the nerve pain.
